"The way to get big is to empower the many and the small"
Do You Serve Capital or does Capital Serve You?
The Hit Forge is a group of entrepreneurial engineers building mass-market web properties. We are owners of our companies, share common tools and code, and have enough money to fund dozens of attempts to find the next big hit. We don't get locked into failed projects, we replace pointy-haired MBAs with modern web marketing, and we share stock so that if one of us wins, everybody wins.
We want to work with the best engineering founders, regardless of where they live or what circumstances they might have been born into. We are a strict, milestone-driven meritocracy, and accept applicants from almost anywhere in the world.
If you have a history of shipping great code and want to build a web startup, but don't have money or teammates, please apply. You don't already need to have "the idea" - we'll find it together.
Capital as a Service
We bring money to you, not ask you to come to the money. We invest the money towards objective milestones, and don't bundle it with active oversight or nagging control. The terms are simple, up-front, and designed to leave you in control of the resulting company. With us, you won't waste your time raising money. You'll be building products to serve users.
The Freedom to Fail
Web businesses are unpredictable despite the best of intentions and execution. We defy the traditional venture model by giving pooled stock across many of our projects, and by killing projects and starting fresh rather than chasing dead ends.
An Entrepreneur Co-operative
We work independently in very small teams until we are convinced that the project is ready for more people or investment. We share common software, hardware, and operational resources, and leave the choice of development language and platform to the teams. Of course we have all of the incubator stuff too.
The Projects
We focus on applications that will be used by millions of people, delivered and marketed entirely through the web. Life is too short to build niche products.
About You
You are a brilliant web software hacker who can design, build, and ship interesting web products. You are among the best at what you do and routinely solve hard technical problems. You have an understanding of successful web properties and have some insight into what makes them resonate with users. You want to reach millions of people through your code.
You should be available to work full-time (or more). Age, nationality, and geographic location don't matter as long as you are comfortable working remotely and independently. We accept applicants from almost anywhere.
Application Process
We are only recruiting for technical founder positions, and for one designer (see below).
To apply, send us the URL of a website or software application that was mainly built by you. Describe what you did, how long it took, and include some code samples. If you can't point us to something impressive that you did, we can't accept you.
Include a short description of yourself and a summary of your technical qualifications. Alternatively, point us to your blog.
Let us know your funding / salary requirements. Good entrepreneurs are capital-efficient.
No specific education, business idea, or work experience is required.
We are also looking for one great, highly technical interaction and interface designer with a stellar portfolio and the burning desire to be an entrepreneur.
This has not been a marketing blurb. Like most of the rest of the web, it's not legally binding.
